Description
Peace Rose is named for one of the colors of my favorite tea rose, the Peace Rose. This variant is light yellow and peach, with, of course, the green leaves surrounding the bloom. I think it is absolutely sublime! The basic elements I work with for color production, ferric chloride, sugar, horse hair and very fine copper wire, are all represented, plus new additions, stains composed of terra sigillata with cobalt (blue) and terra sigillata with copper carbonate (green). Terra sigillata is a super-refined white slip about the consistency of 2% milk. I air-brush 3-4 coats on the greenware, then add the colors, prior to bisque firing. They become part of the permanent background over which the saggar fired colors play.
