The carving  into the rim of this piece represents the one tear shed before the deluge arrives. The blue cascading below the singe tear represents the deluge. At least that’s the way it is with me! One little tear escapes, then I fall apart. The blue was achieved by dappling terra sigillata colored with cobalt onto the piece before its primary bisque firing. The rest of the colors were created in the secondary, saggar firing.
